Georgia 4-H Update
Georgia 4-H
has a number of exciting promotions going on that are enhancing our program’s
visibility and brand recognition across the state and nation. Below are only
a few examples of some of the many exciting opportunities that you have to
support
4-H:
Clover
Country CD - National 4-H Council has partnered with EMI Music’s Special
Markets division to create a CD of approximately 11 country songs by famous
4-H alumni, including three former Georgia
4-H’ers - Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland, Hillary
Lindsey, and Luke Bryan. Nettles, a Coffee
County 4-Her, and Lindsey, a Wilkes County
4-Her, were members of Clovers & Co., Georgia’s renowned performing
arts group. Bryan was an active 4-Her from Leesburg, Ga.
Other famous 4-H alumni on the CD include Dolly Parton,
Johnny Cash, Faith Hill, Reba McEntyre, and several
other stars. Georgia
4-H has purchased 2,040 of these CDs from National 4-H Council so that
Georgians will have the opportunity to purchase these CDs. We are offering
these CDs for $9.99 (plus tax and shipping). You may purchase your copy and
support Georgia 4-H by
visiting the Georgia
4-H website at www.georgia4h.org.
Georgia
Agriculture Tag – Georgian’s can now be seen across the state driving cars
proudly displaying the new “Agriculture Tag”. Ten dollars from the sale of
these new specialty tags support Georgia 4-H and FFA and celebrate
agriculture in the state. If you have not gotten your tag, you may visit your
local tag office to purchase yours today.
Kroger
Cabin Campaign - Kroger and Georgia
4-H partnered to promote the Kroger Cabin Campaign, which was held January 20
through February 2 to raise funds to construct a new Kroger Cabin at Rock
Eagle 4-H Center. Friends of 4-H participated by purchasing a $1 paper icon
at their local Kroger stores. Over $63,000 was raised in the first year of
this multi-year campaign. Kroger’s effort is one part of Georgia 4-H’s
$27 million campaign to raise funds to build 52 new cabins at Rock Eagle 4-H
Center.
Rock
Eagle Legacy Plaza – When you visit Rock Eagle, be sure to see new Legacy Plaza
in front of the Georgia
EMC Building
and Senior Pavilion on the lake. This plaza features brick pavers which can
be engraved for Georgia
4-H supporters. Small and large bricks are available for purchase, as well as
the naming of the entire pavilion or the 4-H flagpoles which line the plaza.
This is a unique opportunity for you
to leave a lasting mark on Rock Eagle in honor or
memory of someone who is special to you, or to mark your personal experience
in 4-H. The first order of pavers has been placed and will soon be installed
for many youth and adults to see for years to come. If you have not ordered
yours, please do so today. Money raised in this campaign will go into an
endowment to support unfunded projects in 4-H.
Blue
Bell 4-H Ice Cream - 4-H inspired the third best-selling ice cream in the
United States, Blue Bell Creameries, to introduce their newest flavor,
Centennial Cupcake, to honor the more than 100 years of 4-H youth development
programming. The ice cream features a cake batter ice cream with pieces of
yellow cake, chocolate icing swirl and four-leaf clover sprinkles. The 4-H
ice cream is now on shelves in
stores where Blue Bell products are sold. Blue Bell is donating a
portion of the sales to promote national 4-H educational programs. The ice
cream is in a unique carton which features the 4-H emblem and youth.
We
are very excited about the many positive things that are going on in Georgia 4-H
this year. The support of the Master 4-H Club and other long-time supporters
of 4-H is essential as we continue to provide outstanding programming and
facilities for the next 100 years.
